About Lucy:
Lucy has always had a passion for sport and throughout school, college and university would try her hand at anything but it was by chance that she came across Volleyball at school. She moved through the ranks quickly, gaining her first full international cap aged 17.

She made the switch to beach volleyball 3 years later in 2006 seeing more opportunities to progress on to the World Stage. She now competes regularly on the FIVB World Tour and the CEV European Tour, with her top finishes being 13th and 4th respectively.

She competed in the World Championships in 2009 and 2011 and hopes one day to become an Olympian.

About Denise:
Denise played on the US pro tour for 4 years and is now competing to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.  Her father's side of the family grew up in Hemel Hempstead and although she was primarily raised in the States.

In 2010 Sistersport magazine commented:

But it is offshore that GB has been making the biggest impression and nobody less so than Denise Johns who was voted the Most Inspirational Player in the 2010 SWATCH-FIVB World Tour Women’s Post-Season Awards. That she knocked Brazilian legend and five time winner Shelda Kelly Bruno Bede off top spot is testament of things to come.

Born in Luxembourg and brought up in the States (okay, we’ll take all the help we can get!) Denise’s dad hails from Hemel Hempstead...

...At 31, her highlights already include beating some of the sporting greats.  “My best moment in the sport so far was in 2005 on the AVP (American tour) playing with partner Alicia Polzin,” she said.  “We beat Holly McPeak & Jen Kessy and Rachel Wacholder & Elaine Youngs in the same tournament in San Diego.  They are legends in the sport and we were on fire being cheered on by friends and family.  It was the first time my grandpa had watched me play and very memorable”. – Sistersport 2010
